What is the difference between psychiatrist and psychologist?

Psychiatrists are unique physicians/medical doctors trained in brain disorders, psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. They treat mental illnesses with medication, talk therapy amongst other modalities. Dr. Tonyane is a psychiatrist. Psychologists use 'talking' therapy to reveal underlying unresolved problems and to change thoughts and behaviour. Psychologists are not medical doctors, therefore cannot prescribe medication.
